Privacy Policy
UQ.Rocks is built around a simple promise: your queues live on your machine, not ours. This page documents exactly what is and isn't collected when you use the website or the browser extension.
Information we collect
UQ.Rocks operates as a client-side application that primarily functions within your browser. We collect minimal information:
- YouTube video IDs that you add to your queue.
- Queue names and saved playlists stored locally in your browser.
- Basic usage analytics to improve our service.
How we use your information
Your information is used solely to:
- Provide YouTube video queuing functionality.
- Save and manage your custom playlists locally.
- Improve the user experience and service performance.
- Provide autocomplete suggestions for video searches.
Data storage
Most of your data is stored locally in your browser using localStorage. This includes:
- Saved queue names and video lists.
- User preferences and settings (including your color theme).
We do not store personal information on our servers beyond what is necessary for basic functionality.
Browser extension (UQ.Rocks Queue Manager)
The UQ.Rocks Chrome extension is an optional companion to the website. It is local-only and sends no telemetry. Specifically:
- Local storage only: Your active queue, saved queues, and preferences are stored in
chrome.storage.localon your own device. They are never synced to our servers. - No accounts, no tracking: The extension has no login, no analytics SDK, and no third-party trackers.
- Host permissions: The extension runs on YouTube (
*.youtube.com,*.googlevideo.com) so it can read video metadata and add videos to your queue, and onuq.rocksso the side panel can render the player. - Permissions used:
storage(save your queues),contextMenus(right-click "Add to Queue"),activeTab/tabs/scripting(read the current YouTube video and inject the queue UI),notifications(confirm queue actions),sidePanel(open the queue side panel). - No outbound data: The extension does not send your queue, browsing history, or video data to UQ.Rocks or any third party. The only network requests it makes are to YouTube itself.
You can clear all extension data at any time by removing the extension from Chrome, or by using Chrome's "Clear site data" controls.
Third-party services
UQ.Rocks integrates with YouTube's services to provide video playback and search functionality. When using our service, you are also subject to YouTube's privacy policy and terms of service.
Cookies and tracking
We use minimal cookies and browser storage to maintain your session and preferences. We do not use third-party tracking cookies for advertising purposes.
Data security
We implement appropriate security measures to protect your information. Since most data is stored locally in your browser, you maintain control over your personal information.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access and modify your locally stored data.
- Delete your saved queues and preferences.
- Clear your browser data to remove all stored information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
